Ninajirachi and Porter Robinson are in Top Form on “WannaCry”
This is the most significant duo in electronic music since Daft Punk
Ninajirachi’s first-ever concert was a Porter Robinson show at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney in 2012. Fourteen years later, her first new single of 2026 sees her and Porter Robinson team up on one of the most interesting electronic releases of the year. “WannaCry” sounds exactly like what you’d imagine their collaboration would sound like., combining Robinson's nostalgia-tinged, reflective take on electropop alongside some glitch-like distortion from Ninajirachi.
From the summery-sounding synths and drop, and the lyrics using a real-life ransomware virus as a metaphor for a failing relationship, this is quintessential chronically online electropop. An honestly, I wouldn’t want anything else from this duo (except maybe an EP). It’s a beautiful full circle moment for Ninajirachi and a continuation of Robinson’s hot streak that he’s been on since 2015.
