RAYE’s Hunt for Her Missing Husband

British powerhouse RAYE is back with a bang. Her new single “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” is a funk-soaked fever dream that proves she’s not slowing down any time soon. Serving as the lead single from her upcoming sophomore album, the song arrived alongside a music video and the announcement of her biggest tour yet. Sassy, theatrical and soulful, the track shows RAYE is once again carving her own lane by fusing retro pop, gospel plea and funk jam into something entirely her own.

After sweeping GRAMMY nominations and cementing herself as one of the most versatile voices in music, RAYE now turns her gaze to something hilariously dramatic yet painfully relatable: wondering where on earth her future husband is. After hearing the now-viral “I would like a ring” bridge all over TikTok, I couldn’t wait to listen to the full track.

The song is cheeky, dramatic and downright addictive. Over swaggering brass, syncopated R&B beats and glossy soul-pop production, RAYE grieves her missing life partner with both heart and humor: “Baby, where the hell is my husband? What is taking him so long to find me?” She’s playful with her vulnerability, so you can feel her frustration and hope bubbling under every line.

The bridge is hands-down my favorite part. She lists off her attributes: “Tell him I’m kind, tell him I’m 5’5”, tell him I’ve got brown eyes…” like she’s dictating a dating ad. I love how theatrical and funny it is, but underneath the humor there’s a raw honesty that makes it relatable. That mix of camp and vulnerability is exactly what makes RAYE’s songwriting shine.

Vocally, she’s in her sweet spot. The rapid-fire verses have just enough grit, the choruses are made to be shouted along to and her layered harmonies make the track feel lush and alive. RAYE intertwines jazzy, big band flair with modern pop polish to make a single that is instantly addictive..

For me, “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” is an anthem for anyone caught between laughing at their romantic struggles and genuinely aching for love. It’s cheeky, it’s soulful and it’s deeply human. One moment you’re giggling at the absurdity of it all, and the next you’re closing your eyes to really feel her yearning. It’s a three minute emotional rollercoaster that proves RAYE’s second act will be bigger and bolder.
