Flo Milli Makes a Grand Return
After the release of her third album, Fine Ho, Stay, in 2024, Flo Milli is back with a new single “Flo Jackson.” And yes, she is still a queen at the top of her game.
If you need to be hyped up before a job interview, night out, or workout class, Flo Milli really is that girl. We became acquainted in 2020, deep in the depths of COVID, with her debut album Ho, Why is You Here?, with tracks like “May I?,” “In The Party” and “Beef FloMix,” which was actually her first released single in 2019, and I was hooked. On one trip to visit a friend in San Francisco in 2021, we played “May I?” in the car so loud and so many times in a row that my friend who was stuck in the backseat got a migraine and threw up all night. Memories.
Since 2020, the petty queen has been releasing hit after hit, with the same thread of addictively fun and confidence-driven raps at their core. Once you listen enough times to remember the words, you will be singing it all day long. The same is true for Milli’s latest single release, “Flo Jackson.” Released January 21, perfect timing for my birthday on the 25th, “Flo Jackson” harnesses the power of a repeating chorus, allowing listeners to memorize the words without maximizing effort. I won’t quote the chorus for profanity’s sake, but just know it bangs as hard as the verses.
Most of Flo Milli’s tracks highlight men and their uncanny ability to consistently do the wrong thing. So relatable. On this track, the most relatable lines call out those of us who are addicted to Find My Friends or other tracker apps. Guilty as charged. This section happens to be relatively clean, so here it is:
He better pray I don't catch his a** lacking
Hit him in the head with a bottle I'm cracking
Know where he at, but I still text him like WYA
Cause I can't let him know that I'm tracking
Even without attaching yourself to the lyrics, the beat will carry you through. The bass, synth and hi-hat are enough for the audience to keep the track on loop. It's a rhythm that causes an automatic groove, one that will boost your mood for the rest of the day. “Flo Jackson” has definitely gone double-platinum in my headphones, and I will be singing it for days and months to come, thank you very much.
While a full album has not been confirmed, her fans are hoping for a new album in 2026. I need something to up my confidence and swag factor, and Flo Milli is just that.
